Coaching
I help passionate creatives build fulfilling, impactful, and sustainable careers.
Why I coach
& for whom
The world needs more passionate creative people.
We are builders and makers. We are storytellers who imagine a better world. We have so much heart, so much to express, so much to inspire humanity. But the challenge isn’t in the lack of creatives wanting to invest in their craft and dreams. It is in the lack of a sustainable framework to do so. A framework that builds equity and resources rather than lead to burnout.
So is it possible to make a living while doing what we’re most passionate about?
I’ve been at that very crossroads multiple times throughout my career. For the longest time, I couldn’t see a possibility where I could have both—doing what I felt passionate about, and building a financially stable and sustainable career. I ended up alternating between both, from freelancing as a video journalist, to working full-time at a startup, then pivoting back to documentary filmmaking.
That cycle continued until I was introduced to an executive coach. Through our sessions, I started breaking down the boxes I put myself in. I gave myself permission to actually believe in what I was passionate about. I stopped comparing myself to peers who had that singular career trajectory, and started building a vision for my work. Like how I approach every problem with a creative solution, I started getting creative about how to design a life and career that both felt purposeful and sustainable. And then I took action.
And that’s what pushed me to become a certified coach. I want to partner with people to take action on what makes them come alive.
Topics I’ve coached on:
Crafting an authentic, confident director’s statement
Designing a sustainable career as a filmmaker
Gaining clarity on your purpose as an artist
How to make a living while doing what you’re passionate about
How to navigate career and life transitions
What My Clients Say
-
"I wanted to transition out of the industry I had spent the past 12 years in...
and find something that gave me more purpose. Through coaching, I learned that my career is a journey, and it is not a problem to solve. I am allowed to try different things and gain knowledge about what is right for me and what isn't. I officially feel "unstuck." I gained the confidence to pursue meaningful work and trust my gut with what felt right. I landed a job that aligns with my values. I truly feel like a new person.”
Erika D., Creative Copywriter
-
"This has deeply shifted my own understanding of a fulfilling life...
and helped me reprioritize my entire lifestyle. I implemented practices that prioritized finally slowing down and letting go of the productivity hustle that I was programmed into for years. Kerri helped guide me to let go of the busy-ness, to focus instead on what would nourish and nurture me. Thank you, thank you, thank you.”
Colette G., Film Director
-
"Coaching helped me realize the importance of listening to my emotions...
and having balance in life. There were so many aha moments after our coaching sessions that made me want to (and sometimes actually) dance around my apartment of excitement, but I think the one I'll remember most is when you helped me realize that decision making doesn't have to feel black or white.”
Cassidy S., Community Engagement Manager
-
“I was feeling lost in my career after being burned out from previous projects.
I feel like I had an "aha" moment in every session honestly. I always felt like I uncovered something about myself. I have more direction in how I want to pursue my career that is fulfilling and doesn't just mean making a paycheck. I feel more confident in making decisions that are true to my values as a person, a storyteller, and a community member.”
Marnie S., Filmmaker
How we’ll collaborate
My passion for coaching is in creating a space for them to listen to themselves. I want to cultivate creatives and leaders who are clear on their personal values, know how to convey their vision, and build their careers with confidence.
Here’s what we will work on:
#1: Clarity on your core values
Whether it’s conscious or not, you have core values from which you operate. They are what matters most to us and what we stand for. When we’re not operating from them, we feel a lack of integration. Knowing your core values gives you a foundation for alignment, which will empower you as a leader to be confident and authentic.
#2: Confidence in decision-making
Of the many people I’ve coached, most of their challenges center on decision-making. Should I be doing X, or Y? How do I know which option to choose? After getting clear on your core values, we will explore your relationship to decision-making, how it shows up in your leadership, and how you want to cultivate your decision-making skills moving forward.
#3: Defining your vision
Instead of letting the market define what your creative vision is, we’ll work to define what is most authentic to your voice, values, and being. How do you want to bring your vision to life?

I am an ontological coach. Ontology is the study of being. Through ontology, our coaching focuses on your way of being as the foundational driver of your behavior, communication, and beliefs. It is a powerful framework for navigating the unpredictable nature of everyday life, because it transforms your way of being as the path to designing a purposeful life.

Coaching is active and focused on the present. Our sessions will center on the now. It is also driven by what you want to achieve. It is forward-looking, goal-oriented, and action-oriented. On the other hand, therapy looks into the past, where people understand how to cope or come to terms with something that happened before or is diagnosis related. There are commonalities, both can work beautifully in tandem, but they are different. I’ve done both extensively myself, and can share from my perspective if you’d like.

First, we’ll start with a discovery call where we can get to know each other and determine if we are a good fit. If you choose to commit, we recommend a minimum of 10 sessions. We’ll start with co-creating your coaching plan together, outlining the outcomes and actions you want to achieve. You, as the client, will choose the focus of every conversation, while I, as the coach, will create a safe and trusted space for you to explore.
